Simon Waddington graduated from Brunel University in 1986 with a BSc. (Hons.) in Material Science and Polymer Chemistry. He began his career as a chemist in the polyurethane coatings industry and then moved to Switzerland in 1989 to join Dow Europe (Polyurethanes) as a Technical Service and Development Engineer for flexible foams. This was followed by various technical roles within Dow for the coatings, adhesives, sealants and elastomers (CASE) markets. He then worked in new business development roles looking for new application space outside of the current businesses, before he transitioned to a commercial function responsible for the marketing of Dow`s polyurethane raw materials and systems for CASE applications. He spent two years as Marketing Manager for the flexible foam market before returning to the CASE markets as a Business Development Manager. Since 2012 he has been consulting within the polymer industry working with chemical start-ups. He was part of the team that transitioned the Novomer ,Inc. CO2 polyol technology to Saudi Aramco in 2016. Since 2016 he has been fully immersed in the polyolefin polymer market focused on recycling of mixed plastic waste and is currently the Business Development Director for Interface Polymers Limited a supplier novel polymer additives for compatibilising different polymers
